    Wheels & Tyres on a Disco 2

Hi to all, I'm new to this forum and have just purchased a 2002 Disco 2 TD5. I would like to put some personal touches to the vehicle, in particular the Wheels/tyres and the plastic square style flares. The car currently has a 2 inch OME lift. Would 285/75 tyres be too big and or will it put too much of a strain on the axles gearing etc. Your knowledge and experience will be valued and appreciated. Cheers

G'day & welcome, congrats on the purchase, been a while since I've been able to find time to participate so thought I'd start with a more simple reply. The answer to your question has been covered in many shapes & forms from strictly road use tires to tires that'll have you getting away from being bogged to the ball s#%k. Type a key word, ie-tires, into the search bar, grab a cuppa & read away. It's a great function that allows you to find the answers to the many questions that'll arise as u travel along the Landy path.
    Cheers

I run 235/85/16's muddies with no problems at all. You could probably go a bit wider (245) if you feel the need but I find these get me everywhere I need to go..... and that's most places .
I have Maxxi Bighorns on, just replaced them and they've been great and are a reasonable price if you shop around a bit.
The simple answer is, wider might be better in sand, narrower better in mud but I'm sure there will be a wealth of conflicting views to confuse you.

Thanks for the reply Wardy1, what a coincidence! I bought the car with Maxxis Bighorns 245/75 R16 on steel rims. 2 of my friends are running 265/75's on there Discos with no issues so I'll probably go that way. I used to have a Disco 3 but sold it when my ex wife decided to take off with everything including the kitchen sink. I must say the TD5 has impressed me so far. I'll simply have to iron out any bugs as I go. Great buying for 11K though, especially as it came with front and rear ARB Air Lockers and the usual other ad ons. Cheers

Hi Discobaker, thanks for the tip, still working out how to navigate this site. A coffee in hand and some patience should see me getting to the right places. Nice joke about the lack of fuel economy on your disco. If fuel wasn't so expensive I'd have one. Cheers

Nah mate, it's not "that" bad😏
Just gotta get past the idea of pulling into the right lane at lights cause no matter how far ur right foot goes down & yes the V8 sounds sweet but she's not going anywhere in a real hurry! Lol
Good luck with tire selection, big horns I reckon I'll go too in the not too distant future😊

This size tyre will touch the front bumper tho, but a bullbar fixes that
