    billowing smoke

    So I picked the car up from having the transmission re coned. Really lacks performance, blowing heaps of smoke, hard to get over about 70k.
    I have checked the turbo and intercooler hoses and they are ok. Feels like it is in limp mode. a few seconds after pulling up at lights or a stop sign smoke starts pooring out. Hard to tell the colour of the smoke.
    Anyone have any clues?

    Sounds almost like an airflow restriction - is the smoke coming out of the exhaust or from under the bonnet?

    out of the exhaust. I have checked everything but the intercooler itself. the strange bit is the smoke that poors out 1 or 2 seconds after pulling up at the lights. Loose sight of the cars behind me!

    i have heard of turbo tubes collapsing, i think the inside delaminates, and this sort of thing happens, ask a reputable landy mechanic, but otherwise i am baffled

    It was the turbo, good second hand one fitted and it all good again
