Question HELP PLEASE - Broken wire from unknown sensor to unknown connector

    Morning all

September 2002 TD5 Auto with ACE

Well, I was tinkering last night and saw some of that plastic outer protective cover for various wire that had gone brittle and started to pull it off to replace it.

this covers two wires, one white, one black from a sensor almost under the turbo and aft of the engine oil filter. these wires then run around the back of the engine (between the engine and the bulkhead) and then join in to another part of the loom that has starter motor wires in it.

The problem is the black wire either broke or pulled out of a connector some where, but it is not the same length as the white wire and I can't find where it goes.

    Questions for help please:-
    what does this sensor do/for?
where does the black wire go?
What will happen if the black wire is not connected to what ever it should be?

Thanks, hope some one can help

Yeh, I thought the same when replacing the condute around the back of the motor over the bell-housing.
The black wire is not meant to be connected to anything. So don't worry.

After some searching (my search fu is weak on these type of forums) I think that the wire goes no where and connects to fresh air?

please can some one confirm that and also confirm what the sensor is for

    thanks
