D2 Model years?

mine was built in dec 2004 but sold in march 2005 to the origonal owner suposadly being the last of the d2a's :D

I don't think there were any. The 2005 MY was taken from the D2 "preface" documentation in Microcat which was published in 2001. Obviously they were allowing for the possibility that D2 production would continue to a 2005 Model.

A bit of googling seems to suggest that the last of the D2's were produced in late May 2004. The build date will be day/month/year, if it is month/year only it's the compliance date.

Add: Land Rover Discovery Buyers Guide also notes that D2 production ceased in May 2004.

There is a small tag plate pop rivetted in front of the airbox somewhere which shows the build date.

I knew I'd seen it on the car somewhere but could remember exactly where :)

FWIW Carsales is an absolute mess when it comes to MY. The system they use bears little relation to LR MY. There are a few 2004 MY D2's on the site but they are listed as MY03. I'd estimate that about 50% of the listings have either MY, build year, or both wrong.

If yours has 12/04 on the tag riveted in front of the airbox it is definitely one of the very last of the goodies:)

Mine is built 01/04,plated 05/04,bought by myself 06/04

The day is not stamped on either plate on my D2a,just month/year

If you plug your VIN into microcat, it will tell you the day, month and year.

Mine is 12/02/2004

BUT - it would have to be compatible with the air bags on the D2 to be legal...
