In Australia the D2a was from the 2003 model year (so starting from some time in 2002 build dates)

And when did D2's start?

According to my information

Discovery 2's were from Mid(March) 1999 to 2004
Discovery 2a (Facelift) were from 2002-2004

Build dates were;

1998 to 2004;

But release dates for Australia were;

1999 to 2005

Full production seems to have started late August 1998. There were around 300 D2's built in August and just under 1000 in September 1998.

Model Year changes at roughly this time each year. So MY 1999 runs from about August/September 1998 to Augus t/September 1999,

Compliance date can anything from 1 to 5 months after build date, so isn't a reliable indicator of Model Year.

The VIN will give the actual MY with the letter or number preceding the A (bolded below) indicating MY

1999 - X
2000 - Y
2001 - 1
2002 - 2
2003 - 3
2004 - 4
2005 - 5

D2a's are Model Year 2003 onwards.

Would a D1 bulbar fit a D2?

No. Do a search for what Bullbars will work.

Well I thought no too. I even bought then resold a d1 nudge bar but it didn't fit and got d2 nudge bar from ECB before I got a cheap d2 ARB bull bar.... Rare... Very rare!

So I've heard a d1 bar will fit a d2 with some fabrication but to what extent, I'm not sure.

I do have an ECB brand new 75mm alloy nudge bar in the shed I need to sell if your interested, it's for a d2.
