Thread: XYZ switch

For me it was the M and S lights starting to flash every now and again when going into reverse - and limp home mode triggered. (Cleared by turning off ignition)

Gradually got worse to point where limp home was activated as soon as I put the car into gear.

Ditto its also happened with an aggressive shift from Park to Drive

Going through water fast it activated the m&s lights still don't know if it was the actual XYZ switch or the wiring loom...

All of the above,replaced swith then rerouted A/C drains [with clear fuel line] to below switch and cabletied to auto pipes. when i replaced the switch I packed lanotec grease all around it and in it where I could....No more troubles---been through water,dust bad roads etc...

hmm,, maybe I didnt type the question correctly,,

APART from the M and S lights,,

what does the car do when the switch fails?
will it enter limp mode at any speed?
and is it just limp mode or does the car do other stuff?

My experience was once the flashing M&S lights activate its straight into limp mode from ignition on.They only other issue I noticed was the cruise control stopped working and obviously fuel economy went out the window.
