Unhappy SLS - Two Warnings in two Days.

    Guys,

First real post. Have a 1999 build Td5 and 6 months ago had a warning from the SLS. I browsed the forum and did the key lock/unlock reset which fixed the warning bell. In the last 2 days there has been 2 more warning which were solved the same way.

Should I be concern. Is this a trend that heads down hill to something bigger.

    Any advice?

    Paul.

This is usually the case when the SLS compressor has timed out. i.e a leaking airbag/s causes the compressor to operate for too long.

It will eventually lead to compressor failure.
Airbags should be tested at full inflation i.e. off road height and sprayed with soapy water, a squeeze/ trigger bottle is easiest.
Ensure a few minutes passes and carefully check the area around where the bag folds. Leaks will quickly show up as bubbles.

There is tonnes of info in the "good oil" onn the subject.
Replacing bags are easy to do in about 60 mins for the average DIY.
Easy to supply in Australia, yet suppliers in the UK are quick and cheap compared to Aust.
Do not buy Arnott brand bags.

    cheers

    Unless you are buying local,,
it will take a week from anywhere overseas.
buy some 4mm airline and two push-in connectors and two schrader valves and pull the SLS fuse.

I got a good new set from flea bay australia a few months back. Pretty reasonable price too I thought. He has got more on there at the moment.

And ditto to what others have said, changing the airbags is pretty easy and well worth saving your compressor from over use and possible failure!

Got straight on to it today and tried twice to detect a air leak and had no luck. That was after fully inflating the bags to off road height.

Went for another drive and no alarms. Bugger.

Could it be a sensor? electronic problem?

    Ideas......
