Paul,
where in Perth are you? there may be someone close by with a nanocom that could assist you.
Roger
Evening all.
After some help. I've been away at work for a few weeks, and when the wife picked me up from the airport, I noticed that the our V8 Disco 2 (2001) was a bit down on power, and wouldn't pull that well heading on to the Highway. That was Thursday, I got into it yesterday afternoon, only to find that it had a really bad rough idle, and it wouldn't even pull up the driveway as it just had no power, and missed and backfired a bit. it sort of came good, well, enough to get it up our steep driveway, but a day later it still has the same symptoms. It had a new Air Flow Meter about 10 months ago, and hasn't missed a beat since. I did put the old AFM in, and it made no difference, maybe slightly worse if anything. Does this sound like it may be a Fuel pump issue, or something more sinister ??
I have no means of checking error codes, and I'd like to try and fix it myself, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for any advice in advance
Paul

Had this once on a falcon, turned out to be a blocked fuel filter.
maybe it's starving of fuel or failing fuel pump?
Hey guys, thanks for the reply.
Roger, I'm in Kingsley, and don't get on the net too often, so i'm not sure of anyone that lives nearby with a nanocom, but that would certainly be handy.
Obviously it's not driving, so it would have to be towed somewhere to be looked at. but if someone could pop in and throw the nanocom it would be greatly appreciated.
And It'sNotWorthComplaining!. as I understand it, these only have a gauze filter around the fuel pump, does that sound about right ?? I might have to pull a fuel line off and see what the flow is like maybe ??
Cheers again guys
Paul
Just taken the beast for a run....
It appears that aside from a hesitation under hard acceleration that it's kinda normal, but being our only family car, I still need to get this fixed.
Does anyone know if the fuel pump or air flow meter give intermittent faults?
or if it may be something more, it's only just 2000km's past it's 160k km service so it's a bit perplexing....
Paul
Hi Paul.
I'm only up the road in Carramar, and whilst I don't have a Nanocom, I do have a generic OBD-II reader which shows lots of useful info, and some generic error codes.
I'd be happy to pop down and hook it up if you like. I have a V8 D2 too which has just been serviced and running sweet enough, so could maybe compare results? Might be a start to help with the diagnostics?
Up to you. PM me or gimme a shout on 0414 217 953.
Cheers,
G'day Kieren.
That would be great, I've got this a bit late tonight, but I'll give you a call tomorrow and tee something up.
Cheers
Paul
Don't know the specifics of the D2 EFi system but it sounds like it could be something to do with the idle speed sensors.
M
D2's just run a gauze filter on the bottom of the pump,, never heard of one being blocked,, when the pump fails, the car wont start, never heard of a pump failing once running,
and the D2 will cough once and stop. DONT keep trying to start it, this will ruin its restartability(injector bleeding).
Put in a MAF that is known to work.
