Thumbs up Banished the Amigoes !

Working my way through the 160k service ...

Several weeks ago started with a tyre rotation, and while each wheel was off I pulled the disc pads (backs wearing a little faster than fronts) and applied a liberal coating of anti-squeal lubricant to the backs, edges & mounting faces of each pad.

I originally changed the disc pads at 120k, and used no anti-squeal, and the slighest squeal (when crawling in traffic, or coming to s top) was sometimes accompianied by the 3 Brethern ... not always, only sometimes.

3 weeks now and no brake squeal .... no Amigoes

Early days, but so far so good.

    $7.95 for a tube of anti-squeal lubricant

One of the best feelings when owning a Disco 2, beating those pesky lights and alarms. Well done Kev.

I did the option b and electrical tape over some exposed LH front sensor wiring and it solved my dramas. Best feeling ever driving without that annoying sound and lights on the dash.

    Very satisfying feeling

They didn't pop-in very often, and it was always doing something slow (like stop/start crawling at traffic lights or intersections in a straight line, with light brake pedal and ... squeeeeeaaaal .... bing bing bing )

... I'm sure they drop in for a visit in the future ... it's their nature

So you wouldn't recommend oiling the brakes then......??

Of course not, but I don't quite understand what you're getting at ?

    Please explain.

    Ah, OK ....

Sometimes I'm so slow on the uptake ....

So you'd use oil on the brakes instead of anti-squeal ?

I had this with my disco 2 and i ended up purchasing from the UK a special code reader (home made)that you plug in under the dash ,it downloads all the codes logged in text form ,(it cost me a few hundred , but i saved more than that ...
You plug it into your car and it gives you the last 3 faults , in detail
ie left front right front etc .
after the fault is fixed , plug it in and out and let it decode 3 times and its clears the ecu reader.
I ended up finding a broken internal wire rhf 3 inches from the sensor by wriggling the wire till the amego went off.then reset the amego and repeat till i pinpointed the exact fault section(absolutly hidden and intermittant ) cut insulation back with a stanly , soldered the break, heat shrink both wires and silicone blue under the last outer cover of heat shrink

we seem to have the same, I dont get to drive it too often but Mrs Hay Ewe reports when they have come on.
I was putting him in the shed the other night, slow speed, using the brakes and on they came,
    will try this

    good work

    Hay Ewe
