Surely trying to determine what is happening with fuel consumption will be a bit hit and miss if you rely on the gauge and when the light comes on.

I can't find anything in this thread that tells me accurately what the fuel consumption is or was previously.

Have you recorded the distance you cover and the number of litres you put in to fill the tank to exactly the same level each time over a number of fills?

Otherwise you might be chasing a problem that doesn't even exist.

Thanks again for the responses.........Tombie....still feels the same. VNX.....fuel consumption may not be up....I just know that the indicators of when I normally fill up and the guage has changed. Having just had the fuel pump replaced and noting that I still had 25 litres in the tank when light came on....would tell me that Tombie/ Pete are in the ball park as to what the problem is. Will see if this bloke will fix it as it did cost me just over a grand,

Dont trust the fuel gauge, each one is different. My first sender/pump unit brought the light on about 50kms before it ran out of fuel. New one installed a year ago runs out of fuel before the light comes on.

USe the Km Vs Litres to meaure fuel consumption its the only accurate way. I always fill up by the time I get to 1/4 left.

P.S the wife loves the shorts.

P.P.S I made that up to make you feel better.

    tombies on the money here

Made me laugh this thread,no not the pics

Yrs ago we used to run a fleet of Falcon P/vans for work.Fuel sender & pick up were one unit, used to stuff up all the time.P/van's had a deep tank, sometimes they would accidently fit a sedan or it could be a wagon sender, was half the lenght as the tank was half as deep.

All of a sudden you could only get 200k's out of a tank instead of 400k's.
Took a while to work out what was wrong the first time it happened...........

as for the D2 guage,i find it VERY accurate, compared to guages in other vehicles.

Firstly glad the missus loved the shorts.......you made that upn that you made that up to make yourself feel better .

As for the fuel guage.....like anything...when we know our car...we know when something is not right. Having just had the fuel pump changed and all of a sudden having guage issues seems to go hand in hand. Will be following up with the place I went to and get it fixed.

    Regards

    Stevo

P.S. You lot should be thankful...I could have posted the pic with a nice dose of plumbers crack.....now only would Christmas have been ruined....but ya NY's eve as well
