    ace pump whirr noise

I have a 99 disco 2 with ace , ever since i bought the car with 80,000kms on it it has had a noisy pump , sort of similar to the noise you get from dry alternator bearings ,
has anyone done any mods or had a fix or is it normal?
The car now has 145,000k on it and still makes the same noise

The noise will stay the same once the pump wears in, you can replace it & it will eventually end up being the same.
It also does a self check every 4 minutes.
As long as it is not leaking all will be fine, just check the banjo bolts ocassionally.

    Cheers

hi mate just had the same problem with my ace pump,

    they are not rebuildable,

take the serpentine belt off and check the pulley if it spins freely then its ok if it is stiff and hard to turn its stuffed you need a new one.

be careful replacing it as you donot want air in you ace system.

pumps are not cheap around $600 new.

    hope this helps

    cheers
