Heads up for loose EGR bolts
Just a short warning for anyone who still has their EGR in place. I had defeated mine but left it in place for the time being.
When I finally got around to replacing it with a proper blockoff kit from Paddock, I found that 2 of the mounting screws were only finger tight. The vehicle had always been serviced in the LR dealer network here in France. What kind of mechanic would let a car leave without tightening all mounting bolts ...

On the bright side, that loose EGR was causing most of the oil leak I had not yet been able to localize. The rest of it is from the right side of the valve cover gasket. Mixed with all the diesel leaking from the old fuel regulator, I had a nasty black mix dripping every night, which our Westie loved to rub on her head. At least that's fixed now!
Reno, France; where the women are pretty and the men are ... uh, forget it.
