    Disco 2 soft brakes

Hi everyone, My first time here. Recently purchased a Disco2 TDi - just love it. However I am puzzled as to why the brakes appear to be so soft. Have had pads replaced in latest service and that didnt make any difference to the soft feel. Wondering if anyone else has a similar issue and does anyone know of any after market solutions.....

What model year is your D2? You mention Tdi not Td5 so thats why I am asking. If your vehicle has ABS, then it is unfortunately a common complaint, but depends on the severity as to whether it can be rectified. It is common on D2 Td5 (And V8) from 99 to 2001 to have to double pump the pedal to get a good feel, a power flush can sometimes improve it, but not always. After 2002 the pedal feel seemed to be improved markedly.
If a D1, Tdi (or V8) without ABS then the wheel bearing free play needs to be eliminated first, and the system bled/ flushed and that should return a great pedal feel, as long as the discs are in good condition.

    TD5 2003

    Hi
I have a TD5 2003, brakes are very soft and need double pumping. Changed all the pads, no difference so going for a flush and replace the fluid after xmas.

Mikey unusual for a 2003, a flush/ bleed should improve it.

A power bleed of the MODULATOR via nanocom fixed the need for "double pump for stiffer feel" on mine for a few months but the spongy first press is now back. search for threads on "power bleed" for more info.

I did read somewhere in the owners handbook that the pedal feel is deliberately soft so as to provide the ability to do a "chauffeur stop" or some such nonsense.

    Ho Ho Ho HNY.

JC - I've noticed a lot of earlier D2 brake lines flexing under pressure so it may be a case of some nice Goodridge lines are needed
