I purchased a PAC steering wheel control interface from eBay.

Managed to program it for my Clarion VX700 headunit - everything worked except for the 'Mode' button.
Then that HU died and they replaced it with a VX701. The PAC still worked though!
That HU has now died and they replaced it with a VX702 and the PAC doesn't seem to work with the new one though.

the little 1/2 din facia you need is also available from autobarn

if you have the premium stock stereo I would advise not using the existing speaker wire in the car, I would run new stuff, a lot of the premium set ups have extra amps/ equalisers hidden in hard to reach spots, its easer to just bypass it all,

(I'm not sure if the land rover stereo does or doesn't have extra amps, just past experience)
The ES/HSE premium sound has 12 speakers all powered by the amp under the passenger seat. One got rip in all out and replace with after market amps etc.
The factory amp/speaker set up would out perform any but only the very top of the line head unit powered setup without amp I think.

The fascia cover strip is unique to the discovery as mentioned previous.

I have a 10 inch Jaycar Response Dual Voice coil sub and I was considering using that to replace the twin 6 inch on the rear door, anyone tried that?

I also have one of these in my wifes car
KD-X50BT Single DIN Bluetooth(R) Wireless Technology Digital Media Receiver with Dual USB and AUX | JVC Australia

We are going to swap as my pioneer doesn't have dual pre out.

I will check out the PAC unit for one compatible with the JVC.

    Cheers.

Your JVC preouts are 4.8 volt, should be better than my 3 volt

Why not try connecting your HU steering remote connections directly to C0098 pins 2 and 3? I heard some steering wheel controls will work with some head units! Worth a try, saves buying a PAC.

A 3 channel HU F&R+Sub could run a separate RCA pair to a powered sub amp to run rear upgraded sub woofers?
    Regards

Two issues. one the JayCar sub is more likely designed to be used in a box rather - not sure how you'd go neatly mounting the 10" onto the door anyhow. Two probably needs more power to drive it than what is being supplied to the two little free air 6"'s by the factory amplifier.

Jaycar is in a Box and too deep for the door.

I only have 2 sets of RCA do I loose much from the other speakers to warrant a set of Splitter RCA?

Ahh ok. I've only really played with stereo's running extra amps. Never really worried about reusing standard speakers and powering from head units when I've decided to upgrade, but then again, I've always gone top of the line when I did so,

I'm currently thinking the discovery will be the first I've had running the head units power, I am leaning towards the JVC KD-R90BT mainly because I want something that matches the look of the rover's dash, I don't want something that looks all bling and shiny,

as for the cover strip there is a aftermarket option available I know this because I was down at Autobarn looking at options for my discovery last weekend, and the said I might need it. Mine doesn't have the 1.5 din system so I already have the strip in place from factory

    How did this unit go?

Mine has started to full apart with buttons sticking and speakers filling apart.

Controls not so good and sick of using the old tape to iPhone, I did wire in AV input which works great

Also did you replace any speakers if so with what and size just pulled the back set out as fully fallen apart
