Fuel gauge stuck on full

Hi guys not sure if this is related, but after fixing the gauge issue, the car started up with out a problem...

Now occasional it wont kick over at all, checked the battery and it does not loose any voltage or dim of lights....
It wont even attempt to to kick over, just silence when the keys turned.... But if you turn it off and on about ten times it starts up no worries and it starts and drives as normal...
its a 2001td5
But it seems to be getting worse and taking longer to get it to start up
Any ideas????:confused::confused::confused:

It could be the fuel pump on the way out.:(

Im thinking the starter... its just making a clicking noise, not even attempting to crank over...
cranks and starts immediately after turning the key on and off after about 20 attempts....
pump sounds good..

probably only the starter solenoid, the starters themselves last for ages, get a starter solenoid repair kit simple job

Mine did this during a trip around tassie.
(Why do these things happen on trips and not around town?:angel:)

Sometimes start ok next time nothing.

quickly cycling key to start postion several times would produce action from the starter.

problem was the starter solenoid and was caused by fuel leaking from fuel pressure reg down onto starter, a leak which once noticed should be repaired asap!

Just wondering how you went with the starter solenoid repair. I did mine a few months ago. was an easy job apart from "the nut from hell". resulted in me being off the road for a week while I scratched my head and cursed the nut from hell which I had rounded. Did you take the starter motor out or attempt in situ? I tried the latter but had trouble with the passenger side/left bolts due to lack of room.

Hey ye mine was pretty easy to pull out, considering the last person before didn't put that top bolt on... or it just fell out... ye just had a grimy stuff in and replaces the solenoids and had to go find a third bolt... worked like a charm after that

Just found out the fuel regulators is dripping like a sieve.... will need to get on to that next.. may have been dripping on it for a while, not to sure

a leaking FPR will cause your starter motor to fail.

fix it asap!
