O.K. Mark! yes the Mod.valve seems to cause surging as you have obviously experienced before, but not this time, maybe hose delamination as suggested? If your fuel pump sounds noisy another possibility?

Have you shortened the wastegate rod? Could be overboosting and ecu cutting fuel.
waste gate could be sticking causing an over boosting problem.
Thinking a bit outside the box, air filter isn't clogged is it? Starving of O2 under max load/demand?

I'm thinking what Jon wrote...
Stuck open wastegate...
Hey, it's a start

'Did I mention some great 4WDriving is just 5 minutes from home?'
thankyou very much guys for the input, last night i tried the bypass of the boost modulator, now this worked to a point the car still got to about 70 fast enough but then it just seemed to rev its nuts off and took for ever to get to 100 so i can see where Jon & Tombie are going in reagrd to the wastegate. The car was serviced around 8k ago and the filter was suposed to have been changed, no i have not checked it yet.
Ok Jon or Tombie can you test the wastegate to see if sticking or a test to work out what if anything is rong with it, your input would be appreciated.
Paul at Goldstar Automotive seems to be ok but i just dont know him that well, its in the back of my mind should i take the old girl down to Justin (Justinc) but if i do i would have to head off about 5:30am so he could work on it and if it was a bigger fix i would have to lay up o/n.
Check for oil at the ecu. Its probably not the cause but easy to check anyway.
Thanks Greame, yep i know about thiss one and nipped it in the bud a few years ago and have kept an eye to make sure it doesn happen again ;)
Well isnt this turning out just fantastic, the car wouldnt start the 2 days ago and thought it was the starter fues so changed it and still nothing ??? ok called for tow to the mechanics i went back to workk and left with Deb, she got to the mechanics and turned out to be starter motor, yep ok Deb told them about the lose of power and they said they would look into it again ok they work on a quite a few Disco's. We dropped in this morning to see how it had progressed :( they had tried a EGR blank off to see if this was the cause , turns out only 6 PSI on boost so he wants to take the turbo off so he can look into the manifold to see if the watse gate is broken :bangin:. I rang Justinc for help he said no need to take the turbo off and have they checked the fuel pump, i said nothing said about this hmmm Justin said very well could be this as car is in the ball park for it to fail milage wise.
I rang the mechanic imeadiately and asked if they had checked the fuel pump, no because if it wasnt working the car would run  i told him that yes it can because it has enough suction from the injectors to still run but no performance, he said oh if you would like me to check it i will . I will wait to hear from them this avo and if they say the fuel pump is ok i will pull it out and drive 2.5hrs to see Justin.
A pressure check can be done for the fuel pump by inserting an appropriate connector for a manual guage where the (unused) fuel temperature sensor is located on the fuel regulator block. I made such a connector for my previous D2 using the base of an identical coolant temp sensor from a Commodore V6 engine to avoid replacing a good fuel pump on spec.
We got the old girl back home yesterday. She still has no power at 3000rpm and all things checked
-intercooler hoses
-fuel pump
-maf
-boost modulator
-only 6 psi on boost
the mechanic wanted to try a new map as he thought this may fix it ???? also he still wanted to take the turbo off to check the watsegate, i was not sure why this would be even ponded over so i rang Waren at MR Autos and he said no no need to remove turbo, also in convo with Justinc and he said much the same so i went back and asked for the car back and paid for the starter motor fitting and left, after getting home i had another convo with Justinc, what a great helpfull fello so all sorted we will be taking her to let Justin service and sort it for us, it will be so worth the 2.5hr drive, he is a passionate landy owner/driver/repairer and i will very gladly support him ;)
4 things.
1. Waste gate isnt broken. Actuator rod maybe badly adjusted or its sticking.
2. When you say no power at 3000rpm. What are you expecting? I don't mean that in a cocky sort of way, but remember the 'red line' isn't much past there and the power curve of a standard td5 map is well on its way back to 0 by 3000rpm.
3. How was 6psi at 3000rpm determined? Did you/the mechanic simply rev the engine and measure? If so that's why you only got 6psi, the engine needs to be under load to deliver boost.
4. Another map is not the solution (unless some one has tried to re-map it previously and f*****d it up (wouldnt be the first time I'd seen that). You need to fix the base issue (if there is one) first and get the engine running right.
Will be interesting to hear what Justin says. Taking it to someone who knows his stuff (justin) is your best bet.
Jon.
