D2 td5 and lack of power on hills

Gday all and a happy new year, ok our D2 has started a discouraging trend when climbing hills, we have a hill comming out of town that is a very good climb, the car used to climb at 100 now we are lucky to get to 85 ???? even when entering the highway its sluggish from about 70 and up, at take off upto 70 the car is still the same as allways but past 70 its depressing.

I have read a few threads so i have cleaned the MAF, no change so i tried unplugging it and still the same ????? she up for a service so if i get a few ideas it will help when i take her in.

    Thankyou for your unput

Could well be the MAF,see if anybody local can let you use a known good one.If yours is stuffed, cleaning it wont help. You can check it output with a Nanocom,a search should reveal the values the Nanocom should be getting from the sensor.
Its also worth cleaning the pressure sensor on the inlet manifold.
    GOODLUCK.

CAT breakdown? I've just had a new one welded in and the motor feels a lot more revvy and willing to do something. Just one of many options....

Mark ... it's a process of elimination .... build a list, and mark off what it isn't one by one (some of these things you can do yourself)

... narrows the field down for what it might be.

    lack of power on hills

Check your turbo modulator valve, small black box under turbo hose has 3 hoses from memory, check for leaks from any,if not maybe replace entirely. Not an expensive part.
If faulty, problems usually come in around 3000RPM when it thinks the motor is over-boosting,then cuts fueling back.
