If the waste gate is sticking then you would experience the lack of power anytime you need the boost, ie somewhere between 0-70 when your right foot demands it.

I'd be more inclined to think dead MAF as that would be more speed related, ie faster you go more air you need to be sucked in and the more the ecu needs to fuel accordingly. If the MAF is dead it won't fuel enough for the amount of air being sucked in.

Justin will be able to plug it in and confirm in a few seconds if MAF is dead.

I can see where you are comming from Jon and when you think about it makes sense, the mechanics said they tried a new MAF and it was the same so makes you wonder with everything else that went on did they actually do that ????

Now when we take off from standing start we dont floor it only go to around 2000 / 2500 rpm its after this when comming to this big hill we drive up we try go faster than 60 to get up the head of steam for the climb

YOU BLOODY BEAUTY WEGOT OUR OLD GIRL BACK.

Thankyou very much guys youre advice has been impecable given freely when needed, iam still so glad we are apart of this community.

OK enough with the praising , i went out the to the car i couldnt wait till tomorrow morning and checked the wastegate, yep it felt very gritty (if thats the rite phrase to use) towards the end of travel, so i gave it a few moves untill it felt pretty good, i took out the air cleaner and gave it a few taps, not bad hardly anything cam out, gave to sensor in the cleaner box and the MAF another good spray with the MAF cleaner. I started the negine after it all dried and it gave a very strange rev after starting and i thought OHNO, all came good so phone in pocket and off for a test drive, then back to what i said at the beginning.

Once again thankyou very very much for all the helpfull advice i just hope i can pay you back some day.

Mark, great news!! I suspect as jon said it was your MAF, either they didn't try a MAF or the one they tried was no good. I have a good tested one here I use to prove the theory after checking the numbers in real time during a test drive if they come up short.

I suspect yours was topping out at 400kg/hr or so instead of the desired 600+ at full noise.

Anyway, great to hear it is all OK!!

I would possibly buy a new MAF anyway, make sure you buy a Siemens or genuine LR one. About $290 for the genuine one, Seimens aftermarket a little cheaper.

Thanks Justin, funny thing before it went into the shop i had read all about the MAF cleaner trick so i purchased the can then and used about half of it cleaning the MAF then and it did nothing ???? but this time it did, the only difference is i sprayed the sensor in the top of the airbox, could this possibly be the culperate

I've had my share of significant performance improvements from cleaning the IAT sensor.

Good job Mark ! ... also, don't forget to also clean the sensor on the inlet manifold ... same deal as the other two (do it cold, be gentle). You'll need to remoce the acoustic cover to get at it ... easy 10min job.

Well the sargar continues, iam thinking the spray i gave it was a bloody good co incidence for it running well as the fuel pump crapped it self this morning so it looks like it may have been the fuel pumps last hoorah and setting us into a false sense , as everyone says Landies have personalities
