    Self Immobilising problem

Over the last week my D2a has started to self immoblise and to not respond to the key fob when parked at home. Its a real pita. Have to use the key code entry system every time I want to use the car, irrespective of whether I lock it with the fob, lock it with key only, or if I don't even lock it at all! Have had the issue around and about in the past and have learned to be careful not to park near telegraph pole transformers or under or facing high tension wires.

But this issue at home has got me puzzled. Doesn't happen anywhere else, just at home in my garage.

What's likely caused the issue? Nothing in the house has changed; I am not aware of the local energy authority doing anything major around here. How can I find out what's changed? It can't be just the car sensor can it, as it self immobilises when not even locked.

Has any one experienced this and has anyone suggestions as to how to fix?

    Cheers

Just a thought ... if it only happens at home in the garage, and no where else, is there a device a neighbour has recently installed that's screwing with the D2a ?

Try parking outside the garage, or on the street and see if it keeps occuring ... door knock the neighbours and ask.

    Unhappy Self Immobilising

About two weeks ago the self immobilising problem started with my 2000 td5 right where I park at home. I have asked around but it seems that no new gadgets have been installed. A few months ago I had a similar problem tracked down to home automation X10. It is not in use now, but....I can open with EKA, but it is not fun every day. I park 5 mtrs away and it is fine. Usually the problem is with overnight parking - 10 hrs-
It seems that the alarm does not like 433mhz, but most remote gadgets run on that frequency now. Will ask next service in Frankston for help.

I guess you could flick the master power switch to your house and see if that stops the problem. If it does then it will be a process of sorting out the cause, if not then it may be your next door neighbour.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice. Have quizzed the neighbours who all deny anything new. Started to work through the various house devices with no luck then, this morning, when I tried to continue, found the problem had gone (ie fob works). Whether temporarily or for good, time will tell.

But there is something screwy going on. Our house wifi has become flaky too, and I am suspicious there's some new electromagnetic interference around here.

BTW, reading up in rave, I found out (probably knew before but forgot) that once the D2 has been turned off, after 30 seconds, or after 10s if you open drivers door, the engine immobilses. Perimeter and volume security doesn't activate unless you operate key or fob. When you put the key in the ignition and turn, a coil around the ignition switch energises, which energises the fob, which in turn sends a signal and de-immobilises the engine. Very secure but if something goes wrong, hard to work around.

So my problem wasn't the interference immoblising the D2, it was being normal. The interference was stopping the fob's signal from being read properly to allow de-immobilisation.
