    D2 cargo barrier

Lads, I'm attempting to convert my old EL Falcon wagon cargo barrier to fit into the Disco. I have a pretty good head for mechanical things and have pretty much got the concept sorted. Upside down works really well. The only thing I'd like to know is where do the "made-to-fit" barriers attach to in the back? I'm assuming the top is probably the rear seat hand grabs. Not sure about the others. Any ideas appreciated muchly.

    Cheers

    Hello Disco58,

My barrier is connected via flat steel strap to where the head rests bolt on in the 7 seater, the head rests are removed as they are no longer needed due to the dickie seats(who uses them anyway?) being dangerous in a smash after the barrier is fitted. The bottom is mounted to the cargo ring mounts on the floor in the cargo area..

    Cheers,

    Jason

If I was custom building a cargo barrier, I would try to find a way to gain access to the back, when the inevitable rear door lock failure occurs.

Hey been down that road, but my cargo barrier was not a milford , it's retaining bolts went through the wheel arch. I unbolted it from outside and was able to move it to get to the rear door.
Best buy the spring kit and replace the rear catch spring, then you should be safe for many years.

Jason, I've a five seater. I reckon I can work the top support and your post confirms my thought about the cargo ring points.

    Thanks mate

Grrrr, My Freelander backdoor latch has failed and I thought the Disco being a mechanical latch (?) would be fine. Something else to look forward too! Thanks for the tips.

Does anyone have the part no for the spring kit off hand? Something I'll be needing to come...

    Disco 58,

Hello. Please find attached a photo showing how my Milford barrier was installed when I lived in Karratha. I hope it helps.

Note there is space around the edges of the milford to provide removal access from the rear seats when the tail gate latch fails.

Had to do it twice, cleaning the latch is no real fix, in future I will buy a new latch at first sign of trouble!

    cheers
