    RELATED D2 TD5 TASKS

Being parochial, and specifically for D2 TD5, but could apply elsewhere, has anyone documented lists of tasks/maintenance etc that logically fall together, given the "sometimes" difficulty of access and time involved?

For example, if you have to remove the turbo, what other tasks does it make sense to do whilst it is off and/or you have improved access?

Its a good point and I can think of quite a few tasks to do while you have access to various locations and to use your example while you have the turbo off....

    1. The water pump 'O' rings are prone to failure creating a nuisance coolant leak so while the turbo was off giving you access to the pump housing and oil centrifuge - it would be beneficial to replace them.
    2. As you have the access, remove the manifold and relieve the webbing between the ports to stop the manifold warping and breaking exhaust studs.
    3. And now you have good access to the oil pressure sender, install a 'Tee' piece so when you hook up an oil pressure gauge (Either electric or pressure line style) you won't have to re-remove the exhaust at a later date

Only down side to all of this is that what could have been a quick and easy task, may end up being a complicated multi task......And many folk may not want to remove say, the water pump housing if there was no evidence of coolant leaks - eg, if it ain't broke.............

Idea certainly has merit though - particularly for people like me who tend to fix a known problem before it becomes an issue
