Backball it will apply with respect to lift and also increase in tyre diameter where there are maximum allowable limits. I'm not sure if Vic has its own rules/guidelines or if they have adopted the NCOP, but it may be worth reading the wheels/tyres and suspension guidelines from the VicRoads website (I assume) or speaking to their registration engineers. I would be very wary about listening to people on forums re registration rules, based on my knowledge of the rules in NSW and the sheer number of people that state incorrect rules - get the info from the source. I'm sorry that I can not be more specific about what you need to comply with.

I finally got a response back from Les Richmond. The parts total up to about $4,200. This consists of the dropper kit, flare kit, stronger track rod, springs, spacers (SLS) and long travel Bilsteins.

Add to that about $2,700 for the installation.

However what I'm really concerned about is the fact that it seems to be impossible to get this kit engineered. I have to think long and hard whether to go ahead with something that allows some serious offroading or something that doesn't make me sweat the minute I hit the road...

It's only illegal if/when you get caught.
If it's the tyre size you are worried about, dont. Just put the stockies on and get a roadworthy if you get busted.
Unless you are doing something stupid, or it looks plain wrong i think the cops wont bother you.

Everything on mine is engineered: tyres, suspension, brakes, CW/P, axles the lot. I've never every been questioned by the police about it, even when pulled over with the Simex on, nor questioned by any rego related people.

This said, it is all approved, so I'm not worried if I do get questioned.

If you are worried about ride heights etc, I think it would be really interesting to develop an air suspension setup for it. Also in relation to the prices of the LRA kit - crazy. If you do, then check my previous post and leave out all of that junk from LRA which just adds parts to make a 2" lift a 4" lift rather than just doing it properly in the first place and developing a 4" lift.
    Cheers
