    Long Range Fuel Tanks

Hello all. This is my first foray into the forum, so forgive me if I could find this information somewhere else.

But I would like to know if anyone has fitted a Browne Davis long range tank. After picking up my D2 recently in Adelaide and driving it back home to Far north Queensland, I have concluded that we need more fuel. So having looked around I assume the bigger the better and as such the BD version seems to fit the bill. So has anyone ever had any problems with them? My mechanic reckons Long Ranger are the go, but I can't see the point in spending $1400 for another 35 litres. I know that I could fit another auxillery as well, but again more $$$. That brings me to the next question. Instead of an auxillery fuel tank, has anyone fitted a water tank into the same place?

    Thanks.

I've never heard a positive thing about Brown Davis with regards to their products, or their backup/customer service. Actually quite the opposite.

The Long Range automotive tank is 150 litres and so far not bad, but you do need to reinforce the end of the chassis where the companion tank is supported otherwise the chassis will crack and the tank will fall out. I spoke to them about this and at the time they didn't want to know about it. Quite dissappointing conversation to be honest.

Lone Ranger / ARB / Out of Town tanks are the ones I have never heard anything negative about.

There is also the option of sill tanks. The tanks sit between the front and back wheels. You can fit a PS one if you don't have SLS and you can fit a DS one if you don't have ACE. They're cheaper and they hold about 50 litres of fuel from Long Range Automotive. I think Brown Davis might be 60 litres, but again I wouldn't touch them personally. Fill from under the wheel arch with the LRA one.
    Cheers

Anyone know the price on the LRA sill tanks? I'm sorta contemplating one if the price is right.

Just found this advert, $880 each.

Lra Long Range Fuel Tank - Landrover Discovery - Mount Barker - SA - $ 880.00

You can also buy them through TJM, so might pay to go and ask your local store.
