Did the Auto temp dash light come on?
Just got back from a trip to the Murray mouth along Goolwa Beach (no Mulloway this time) and encountered very soft sand most of the way which is a little unusal but it was busy down there. Anyway, stayed in high range but engaged the diff lock and all seemed fine until exiting the beach when I noticed she was running slightly lumpy as if on only four of the five cylinders. Auto trans was also pretty hot but I put that down to the hard work through the sand but although my Disco got me home she was well down on power and struggled up the hills refusing to go more than 40kmh (usually 70+)?
My question can a overheating gearbox cause these symtoms or is it likely something else is triggering this. On the flat she was picking up power but was clearly still struggling and running higher revs?
thanks

No lights and the box is operating fine this morning however lumpy running is still there. From idle if you press the accelerator it revs but with hesitation which suggests either a hose issue or the exhaust manifold.
Rough idle is worse when cold and disappears when warm but as soon as you press the power you can feel the slight misfire as the revs build.
On the road she struggles to 40kmh up hill but will reach 80kmh without too much fuss on the flat (I won't push more than that) but you can tell it's not right?
Is there a thread somewhere on these items in terms of how to check or even something on Utube that anyone is aware of??
Cheers
check air filter box? Do you have snorkle? Check auto switcher on side of trans box? just a few things I've encountered
good luck
What about oil in the loom, ecu?
Thanks I checked the air filter and seemed fine and didn't change the lumpy running.
I can almost certainly feel she is misfiring on one cylinder which could well be oil in the loom but I have to be honest I don't like going near the ECU?
Is there an easy way of checking for this without me causing more damage especially to the ECU?
Check your intercooler hoses...
You may find one is starting to peel off inside.
I love that stretch of beach, but it can be hard going at times.
By way of follow up as I believe this to be important for fellow forum members, it turned out to be both oil in the injector loom and a rapidly deteriorating fuel pump. Both changed and now good as new.
Thanks to all who helped me sort this problem.
Cheers
