    Tingy noise

    Hi
I have a 1999 v8 series 2 has started making a tingy noise similar to cv joint. Took to land rover specialist hasn't heard anything like it and give me a few ideas. Started out when turning right and accelerating hard now, when accelerating hard without turning makes same noise any help would be great.

I don't know what a tingy noise is, but have you checked the double cardon joint uni's on the front prop shaft for damage?
I expect this is the first thing a landy specialist would check, however better safe than sorry.
If this is the problem, do not drive anywhere until you get it fixed.

Mine quite often gets the tick tick noise. Mine eminates from the downpipe clamp, from the manifold. Three bolts hold the flange plates together, and it only appears (on mine anyway) that the bolts on the drivers side come a little loose every now and again, and the ticks start. I get under the car and tighten these up, and hey presto, the tickings gone!

I reckon it's worth checking these bolts BEFORE checking your driveshafts, only as it's a damn sight cheaper and an easy job, even for those with non-mechanicing skills (like me!)
I ended up putting spring washers on mine back then, and I haven't had the same issue return since.

    Cheers,

The landrover guy thought it was a cv as it sounded like it was coming from the wheel. He checked the universals and prop shafts he said they look good.

Figured out the problem broken engine mount on passenger side causing right side exhaust shield to hit front prop shaft. Thanks for all your help.
