Question Reverse parking sensor playing up

I had my reverse parking sensors removed from the vehicle for a while, since refitting they're not functioning properly. Sometimes they work normally, but most of the time they get set off by nothing, i.e. I'll be reversing with nothing anywhere near me, but they'll be going off like I'm about to hit something!

Is it common if one becomes faulty for it to trigger itself off?

Anyone know if there is a difference between the sensors that fit in the centre of the rear bar and those that fit on the outer side?

i have an after market kit from REPCO to install when i get a chance and i was surprised to read in the instructions to take care to orientate the sensors correctly!!

They have an arrow symbol moulded on the rear of the sensor - the arrow must point to 12 o'clock position. Maybe yours are similar.

    Onebob,

This happens with my sensors occasionally. Normally, only for a short period of time and then they act normally again. I just ignore it (figuratively speaking) and class it as an occasional annoyance.

    Cheers,

    Franz
