So have you installed yours yet, and if so what (if any) changes have you noticed? Also what should people be prepared for (ie break those Allen bolts) if they were about to attempt this job? (ie me )

EDIT: just realised it's from the UK so even if you did have it chances are you haven't has the time to fit it. Nice work brain
Start with the wd40 (or similar) on the bolts holding the egr pipe to the exhaust manifold now. A dose every few days for a week should help minimise chance of breaking the bolts.

A 5mm allen socket (I bought one each of 1/4" and 1/2" drive to be safe) is essential for getting the bolts out.

Thanks to all for the adcive on the EGR removal. was a nice simple job apart from the bottom bolts where the EGR used to sit, I had some trouble threading them but got it eventually. I have the EGR cooler so bought another blanking plate (just because) to go on the other side of the EGR cooler. There was plenty of gunk in the valve and was glad to get rid of it.

I removed my EGR at Xmas time, yes it is noticeably louder but after a drive or 3 I don't notice it anymore. Absolutely no performance increase, maybe a very slight drop if anything but at least the engine is breathing clean air.

Yes I have noticed an increase in noise as well. As for any performance increases I can't say as I have done ALOT in a short space of time including the EGR, oil harness, tranny service and much more. I have noticed some more power but I would attribute this to the tranny as I left it for 40k. I do enjoy the piece of mind though, once you remove the EGR you ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner when you see all that crud in there.
