    no rear wheel drive?

    Hello,

Yesterday my front drive shaft decided to start vibrating and the 2nd Uni joint let go,
my question is that I though if I remove the from tailshaft while saucing parts that i would be able to drive the car, i.e. the rear wheels would turn, but the didnt only the front flang did can anyone please explain?

    I have a 2001 TD5 without CDL

    Thanks

Says it all, that's one of the uses of a CDL. You're stuck until you 1. get another uni, or 2. get a CDL fitted.

you may be able to engage the CDL with a 10mm spanner if you have the internals of the diff lock, where in Perth are you located?

have a look feel on top of the front transfer box extension (just above the front drive shaft flange) and there should be a small shaft sticking up if you rotate this it will engage the CDL. you will get lots of dash lights come on but it should then drive.

    www.discovery2.co.uk/Factory Diff Lock

have a look at the photos in this write up it shows the shaft in the photo that has remove these 2 bolts.

Problem is that from mid-2001 until mid-2002 the D2 was not fitted with the CDL internals.

If the car in question is has a 2A VIn it's almost 100% that it won't.

Dive under her and look for the transfer case serial number, if the prefix is 41D or 42D then CDL is fitted; 61D, 62D, 69D or 70D means you're stuffed.
