alternative bullbar to fit the disco? landcruiser etc?

has anyone got any info on what bullbars will fit my disco2?

Ive tried a smartbar from a hilux and it looks good, but isnt quite wide enough.
Im currently trying a nissan patrol smart bar, but it looks a little too wide. (see the pics).

does anyone know any others that will line up ok with the front of the guards and not look too ugly?

Im not worried about having to fab up mounts, but more worried about headlights/turn signals being blocked or the guards not lining up ok.
I've been offered the bar in the pics for $100 so may go with it till I can find a more suitable one.

both my front and rear plastic bar covers are damaged, hence the mods...

    Insurance and damage considerations

Ummmmm...... whilst I'm not an engineer, aren't you concerned about the ramifications from a design / engineering point of view?

There is the little issue of design and load impacts which may cause the airbags to deploy either incorrectly (at a lower impact than they should have) or not at all, causing more injury than would otherwise have occurred..... . The bullbar should also spread the load impact to the chassis evenly, which is based on the brackets etc used.

Your insurance company may wipe any claim that you make as it's not a part designed for the vehicle. This may appear to be scaremongering, but it would be a concern that I would have.

Why not get an ARB bar or one from a similar manufacturer that is made for a D2.

Trying to fit a bar that has not been complianced for a D2 will be illegal and make your car unroadworthy and if in an accident maybe uninsured.

I got my ARB winch bull bar, colour coded for 1575 and fitting was 135. I was gonna fit it myself but for 135 they can deal with the hassle and get rid of my old bumper. TJM also make bullbars but I liked ARB's design the most.

I have a brand new 76mm tube ECB nudge bar that I'm trying to sell if your interested? It isn't a bill bar but it's still veeeeeeeeeeeer chunky and tonnes cheaper than any legal D2 bar.

I was just scrolling though e-bay and see this car for sale with the bar above already fitted for sale. The car looks ok but the wrong end of the country for me. Why are you asking for a different bar if you have already fitted this one.
    Cheers, David.

yep, iI did put it on ebay, but it looks like I'll be removing it soon as Im looking at another option tomorrow...

My original plastic bar cover was shattered but the metal reinforcing was ok and slipped perfectly behind the patrol smart bar, so it turned out an easy fix with only 2 holes being added. I didnt have to remove the crush tubes or cut anything structual.

Im actually enjoying driving the disco but want to get a manual with less k's, So if I can get rid of this one and update I will.

Barney thanks for the offer mate, but I think I would still need the original bar cover if I was to use a nudge bar... thanks anyway...
