D2 Missing CDL
Hi All, just looking for a bit of advice on the subject of the missing CDL. I am sure this subject will have been well and truly covered, but in all my searching of the forum, most advice seems to centre around the CDL actuator mechanism. I have recently purchased a 2002 TD5 manual and I would like to install a CDL. I am fairly certain that mine is the one with no internals, so any guidance on what path to take would be much appreciated.

Easiest method would be to just swap the transfer case with one that has the internals required, then while its out fit the chosen mechanism to operate the CDL.
Seeing you are in Tassie, possibly contact Justin Cooper Automotive

He has had years of dealing with these vehicles & may be able to assist in locating parts &/or help in any way.

Or find a cdl front output housing second hand like I did.
I was going to order this until I found output housing from a suspect transfer box.
Ashcroft Transmissions - CDL Update Kit
Some claim this can be changed without removal from car!

A quick update on the cdl. I had a quote from a local LR specialist today and it was a ridiculous price. I talked to Justin Cooper as suggested and he sounded very knowledgeable and down to earth. He is looking into it and getting back to me in the next day or two. I had a look at the Ashcroft parts and I could do the cable assembly no problem, but the transfer internals are probably out of my depth. I could probably change the transfer case at most. If the cost is too much I will probably look at trading it for something with the CDL already in place. Thanks for the advce
