Every now and then driver side rear disc brake gets very hot !
(Stupid here on first occasion touched it with finger, 'yes its hot all right !)
Other discs normal temp, Local Mechanic checked all, made sure workng ok,Calipers slave cylinder etc. Obviously been hot but ok.
Landrover also had a look, couldn't see anything wrong either, but stll hot and smelly.
Any clues please ?

SubscriberIt's getting hot because (quiet likley) the disc pads are dragging on that wheel ... there's air in the brake lines (or more likley in the disc caliper fluid area) that heats up and expands as you drive, which then applies pressure to the disc pads as the heated air expands ....
... or not ?

Are you sure they checked the caliper pins properly? They can AND do seize up enough to bind the brake. If you can't 'rattle' the caliper with your hand then it is likely they are at least partially seized. I've seen them so stuck they can't be freed up, even using a low heat and then soaking in kero overnight.

Looks like a brake line might be the problem, collapsing nternally, so will book it in and get rear brake linings done and hose replaced,thankyou for the replies, til next time, regards Tone
