IF you can interrogate the computer there should be a way of changing the lockup map in the same way that you remap an engine....

shifting with a locked TC would be bad, potentially very bad especially while towing... Id be looking at using the switch setup to also force a shift lockout paramater like the limp home mode does.

    Dave,

I had a D2a yesterday I could've played with, but I didn't see this until just now. All the others here this week are manuals.

I will ring an associate of mine with an auto one (Just fitted your upgraded TC to it actually... Very happy thanks) and see if he is available.

Guess you have found the answer by now but though while the disco is not going anywhere I would check this out . Need the trans computer , EAT , plugged in to power the solenoids and since I did not want to splice the wire I removed the plug and powered the solenoids via pin 53 . With earth on 32 a click is heard inside the trans .

Hope this is what you want , now about a good deal on a torque converter

    Cheers

just to whip it out there whats the odds of cloning the chip onto an EEPROM and modifying the clone then installing that OR implimenting a piggy back?

Fantastic idea, we used to put a manual operated switch to do this in our turbo and supercharged Ford Falcons to allow us to use the engine torque with an automatic gearbox. Look forward to this device.

I assume similair effect can be achieved through fitting the Compushift? However, that device is quiet expensive.

From what I have read your Heavy Duty Torque Converter for the TD5 also lowers the shift points and assists the torque converter to lock up properly easier. I am keen to fit one of these.

JC - are you able to tell me roughly what the TC ends up costing in AUD by the time it's delivered here?

The only thing slowing me down at the moment, is my lazyness to drop the autobox...

That about sums up my position , do not have good enough shed facilities to do it at the moment but it needs doing . Shame I am not in Ausie , could do a bulk ship deal . Was going to be $1500nz landed here , counting the core return charge . Thats another 100 odd pounds but still probably cheaper than shipping my old one back .

I thought it just lowered the lockup , can't see how it would change the shift points in the box as mentioned above . I know bugger all about auto's thou .

Back to topic , sort of . If some of you want to change shift points etc has anyone looked at building one of these .

If you are able to tell the ecu its a manual now on the surface it would seem like a good option .

I think I am happy enough with the box , I would just like a torque converter that locks up even at 85ish km/h . I think the ashcroft t/c fluidly locking at 2200rpm would be a big improvement over the 2700 ( mine is currently able to hit 3100ish in a stall test ) .
