    Injector Service - When?

I'm wondering when injectors and pump need to be serviced on my TD5? I've done 300,000km since new in 2000. My reason is over the last year or 2 fuel consumption has risen from around 10l/100km in the city when I first bought it to about 14l/100km. I had an ECU upgrade done about 2 years ago and immediately it went up to 12l/100km despite all the info saying you'll save on fuel with these sorts of upgrades especially as I drive with a light right foot. Recently however without any major mods the consumption is now around the 14 mark. There's no smoke except a bit under extreme acceleration. How do I know that injectors need to be serviced, where is a good place in Perth to get them done and for how much ? Any other thing to look out for like brands etc.

    Rocket,

It might be a faulty MAF sensor and not necessarily an injector problem. I am replacing my MAF (have an OEM one on order from england - around $150 delivered) to try as my fuel consumption has risen recently to around the same mark as yours. It may also help with auto gear changes. There is some mention about how to access MAF info on a nanocom to see if yours is faulty somewhere on the site.... Maybe in the good oil?

I believe the injectors don't get serviced due to the cost ... They get replaced . They should be good for 1,000,000km.

    Injector service

    Rocket,
Not sure how you identify if they need a service/replacing but I wish I had done so before I blew my TD5 in January. Faulty injector caused a piston to burn out/melt and now I'm waiting for a replacement motor. Hope the next one lasts longer than 130,000ks.

    Bill,

Did you have any warning or could you identify any symptoms prior to failure?

Hope the replacement motor gives you more joy - where did you get it and at what cost if I may ask.

    Cheers,

    Franz

The extra fuel is not ending up in the sump? Is it?

    Hello Fluids,

Just curious, do you remember where you heard this??
I do my services myself and like to cross reference info like this.

    Cheers,

If I can find it I'll post it up.
