I put in an ABR Sidewinder, too, which has worked well so far. I located my compressor in the gap between the cargo barrier and the fridge slide in the rear of the vehicle. You can see it in the photo in my post:

Not sure I'd put a compressor in the engine bay. The heat, even with the bonnet up, would put extra load on the pump and take longer to inflate.

I mounted an ARB high flow compressor in the rear quarter panel of my disco and plumbed it up to a air tank which takes place where one of the rear folding seats were. I use the set up for my air suspension as well as inflating my tyres, the setup works well but I'm contemplating removing compressor and mounting in engine bay where the jack lives because my wife hates the noise as it fills the air tank. I was originally going to mount tank under car but couldn't find anywhere that looked like it would fit a tank without getting dented while offroad.
    Cheers Matt

I can vouch for this location:

(where the jack used to live)

It is principally for the SLS, and the ARB is still going strong.

    Cheers,
    Steve
