Question Air Filter Box Top Cover

    Hi All,
Hope you are well. I have a small question:

I've noticed that my air filter box top lid doesn't sit flush in one corner. Are there meant to be clips on both sides (opposite sides) at all???

Also, given that it doesn't sit completely flush on one corner... is that going to cause any detriment somewhere along the airfilter/maf line?

    thanks for your help :-D

    Cheers,
    Lp

doesnt your phone have a camera Lp?

there is a clip on the passenger/firewall side
and one on the drivers side.

and as the air come UP through the filter
    its a BAD thing

make sure the filter is sitting square and flush in the housing

Thanks for the reply. I've attached a photo

The filter is sitting all flush around the lip of the inside of the box (housing - isn't really anywhere for it to not sit properly imo).

As you can see from the photo.... it looks as though there should be something on the bottom/top to secure the top to the bottom etc....

If it's broken, are these units expensive to purchase - new or second hand and is the part just called the air filter box??

    What are your thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Lp

You can see the remains of one of the two lugs at the radiator side, the lid has two protruding lips on that side that clip under and the the two metal spring clips hold it shut,,,

    that probably didnt make sense

suffice to say you have to "clip" the lid under at the front and then pull it down at the back,,

    anybody got a pic???

    Hi

I noticed a problem with mine, There is a plastic lug on the radiator side of the filter box (top half) that was folded under on mine.
someone has forced the lid shut and bent it, it was preventing the lid to seal
this may be the same on yours

    Good luck

ok.... I think I got you - all relative to where one stands .

The section that is pulled down at the 'back' (where the front of the bumper is ) is ok. The section that is clipped at the front (where the front windscreen is ) - is the one that is broken right?

The side where the MAF is located (radiator side), that metal clip is fine and nothing is askew/bent there (thanks for pointing that out to me Husky, just went and double checked :-D)

so.... how many clips should there be of the one/s that need to be pulled down with the spring clips (windscreen side)??

    Thanks,
    Lp

That lug usually gets folded in if an experienced person changes the air filter. When I've had my car serviced by a dealer I always had to bend this back out, that was even after I explained it carfully when dropping off the car.

    It was a dealer service

The one on mine has broken off now so I don't have to worry about it any more
