Heavy vibration when putting in Drive?
Hi All
I wonder what is going on here? The idle is suddenly rather rough, especially when putting the car into Drive (2003 Td5 auto). The car runs perfectly otherwise.
I cannot relate the onset to any service work or any driving conditions, it just started out-of-the-blue!
Any experiences on this sort of problem?
Thanks

It could be the oil in the injector loom problem - search on the forum for that and all will be revealed.

Ah, that is interesting. I just replaced the injector loom and cleaned out the multipin connector on the main engine loom at the ECU. (I had absolutely no success in flushing the loom BTW). My plan is to keep cleaning the connector until all the oil is out of the main loom. And no fresh oil is getting to the main loom because of the new injector loom.
I shall clean again and report what happens.
Thanks, Adrian

Yesterday I cleaned the engine harness / ECU connector. There was a small amount of oil there. This has not improved matters. I notice that while the vibration is most noticeable when the gearbox is in Drive, there is still roughness when in Neutral.
The nanocom shows no fault codes.
The engine runs fine otherwise.

Possibly RH engine mount collapsed. I would try it again with a trolley jack gently lifting the sump on the RH side, this will push the mounting bracket off the chassis outrigger and if the engine mount is at fault, the vibe through the vehicle should diminish or disappear altogether.
