    Headlight Guards

Considering replacing these after 11 years - well whats left of them after curved parts have broken off during the journey.
Can the forum advise whether I should go with the clear covers or the black grilles. The grilles look good but I'm not sure of the advantage - less heat build up in the lens?
Sorry if this duplicates another thread, I couldn't find any specific to this.

A grille won't protect your lens from flying stone damage.
A grill is good protection if you were to travel on unused tracks with branches /tree in the path, but lets face it who uses their disco as a scrub bulldozer

I've not heard of this before but sounds like a good idea. Can you give a few more details?

The grills look way cooler... That's my reason for having them...
