I was still shocked by how much gunk there was in the intake when I removed the EGR and fitted the blanking kit. Man that stuff is really like thick tar. I didnt dare try to clean it off from within the intake manifold but I reckon it was 4 or 5 mm thick. That cannot be good for a whole bunch of things, not to mention performance. When I fitted the blanks and started the engine I sprayed some leak finder around the exhaust blank and there was some minor leakage I'm hoping that will be ok and might diminish with heat/time?

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
Pull the sensor out of the inlet manifold and check out the amount of grease on that!
Sounds like the wrong oil has been used for some time.
I took my manifold off and cleaned it out when i found the same thing on my engine, but it was about 3mm thick. I also scraped out the inlet ports in the head with a plastic spoon type tool thats a lot like a butter scraper.
I think it made a difference to the performance and fuel economy.
cheers

soapy water will make a bubble. true if the leak is blowing.
what if its sucking?
