Hi All,
starting to think long term about an electric winch. Wondering which of the winches will fit a 2003 Disco 2a with an ARB winch bar? I think the Magnum, and the Warn 9.5 do, but was looking at the more budget models. Looking at the Avenger Mako TDS series in 9,500 and 12,000 lb mainly, but the Tigerz11 winches are REALLY cheap atm. Do these fit (Avenger or Tigerz?)
Thanks,
I have a Tigerz11 12000lb winch fitted to a deluxe arb bar. It's been a good winch for me, always done the job. Been on for 2 years now... Pretty hard to beat $800 including synthetic rope- much lighter and safer to handle.
As above for me too! Had mine for about 18m but only used it a couple of times. Mainly there for the 'just in case'.
If i was getting into more serious situations, I would have gone with Warn.

2 or 3 years ago 4WD Monthly did a huge comparison in winches and the one that came out best was Premier winch, not only in performance but value for money. I have a Magnum winch and wouldn't have another. The freewheel switch has no seal and so if you go through water with a hot winch (from just travelling around) it sucks in water and rusts the mild steel inner gears etc.
Manual says every time you go through water to strip down winch and clean. You've got to be kidding!
My solution is a waterproof nylon bag (you can get them from hiking stores) which just fits over the motor and held in place with a stainless steel 'bandit' strap and worm drive.
