I'm not trying to slag him, rather just providing an account of my experience. I really wanted the rack, I spent 5 months trying to purchase one, it wasn't a hard sale as I knew what I want and had the finances, but after 5 months, despite numerous e-mails and phone calls, I still was unable to be told a price or rough date for supply of the stock. I gave up. It's a pity as those Rover Racks are awsome. If the opportunity ever arises in the future to purchase one I believe I still will despite having purchased a rack second hand now.

    Thanks to all,

I'm waiting for a return email from Rover Racks. I will just buy and order from America.

I had emailed Safety Device one month ago, they said "we receive many enquiries about Safety Devices "Highlander" Roof Rack for the Discovery but unfortuantly we don't produce those any more"

Talking about people not wanting business and knocking back money. I thought to my self, "if the rack is in such high demand then how about you get busy and make some?" anyways.

Well seeing no one knows of and or owns a rack then I will wait for the return email.

Take care peeps and thanks again.

    Regards

    Craig.

What are they made from, - Steel? Aluminium? Unobtanium???

Would it co$t THAT much more to have a 'One-of' fabricated by a smaller roof-rack manufacturer ?

Had a word to a relly who's in the business of roof-rack fabrication. (ToyTrols his bread & butter) Single level, gutter mounted, 4 legs per side

His are aluminium - there's legal limits on the amount of weight carried outside the vehicle, and the rack mass is taken into account, apparantly.
His Trade expertise is in alloy boat-building/welding.

If he had an order of at least 6, and then the price would be around $1800 each. Take it or leave it, preferably don't ask...

Its the fiddliness of it all - measuring, designing, prototyping AND building the finished product at the same time.

The cost/returns/time equation is not worth the stress...

So there's a benchmark to work from.

    Cheers
