Thread: Discovery 2 Bottle Jack

Don't force it up, we had a Disco jack that wouldn't go past the first stage. It refused to lift the second stage so we decided to put it in the vice and get a long steel bar, the theory was that some oil had mad its way into the seals between the 2 stages and that if we forced it, it would push past the seals. WRONG! the side of the jack busted open shooting the little pressed on thing at the top flying into the roof with a loud band. The jack basically exploded on us. It failed on the tube of the first stage.

Mine did the same thing, wouldn't jack up past the 2nd stage and left me stranded in a car park.

I threw it out and picked up a new bottle jack.

Repco, Supercheap, Malz etc all sell them. Or have a look on fleabay.

It wont be worth rebuilding.
