Holding down second battery
Hi all,
I'm in the process of moving my second battery into one of the rear storage lockers but am wondering how to hold down the battery.
Can anyone who's done it already explain or provide a photo (better) of how they hold down the battery?
Also thinking of making a false floor in the storage bin above the battery so I don't completely lose the space. Anyone done that? Any photos?
cheers,
Mundy

It will depend on the room you have available, but you can use the same aux. battery mounting kits ( look at the universal mount types - most 4WD retailers/manufacturers will have one ) or the marine style plastic cases. If you are moving the battery, it may be preferable to look at one of the kits already in the case. Most come with some type of monitoring setup, and several complete with dual battery charge wiring. I think Dolium and Projecta have a model.

I've done the same as you and solved this simply with the help of my father in law. We put a peice of steel tube across the length of the battery held down to the floor with threaded rod, attached under the floor with a bolt/washer. We also put some angle across the front parallel to the bin wall to stop it moving sideways. See my pics. If you want more pics let me know. My father in law is a legend and makes seats and vehicle mods for a living and this was his idea and solutions. Just be careful with the steel tube across the top as obviously it's steel and the battery is live so as long as you take time, it's all good.

Thanks Barney and Admiral. Its funny, when you know what you're asking the question is clear and obvious. What I should have asked is, do you have to drill holes in the floor (or elsewhere) to hold the battery in place? If so, I suppose you have to seal any in the floor to prevent water entry.

Yep true and yeah you do. We went crazy with silicone after we drilled thru the floor.
