You could try sourcing from the UK as their prices and our current exchange rate will make it ok, aside from the freight. So you could offset the high freight cost by ordering other stuff as well. I can recommend Britcar (UK) Ltd
They have them for A$195 + freight.
Got mine from LinnRover in Kewdale for way less than that (second hand admittedly, but vgc).
Give Sarah or John a call on 9359 4144 and see if they have any more in.
lra in Australia ( link here, don't know why its called this though... To be classified...) have them for $244 plus freight. MiamiBritish in the USA do a fiberglass alternative for $US225 plus freight. Freight for this from USA or Britain, or even in Oz won't be cheap due to the odd size of the plenum chamber.
Can you keep the post up to date with what you went with, as my cover is cracked as well. The plastics don't hold up well, as the front vents were rotten with age; however, the plastic cracked without anyone touching it / being near it at the time - just normal use, about 18 months after I got the vehicle; although a possum or some other nocturnal animal may have been involved, as there were animal tracks on the windscreen.
I notice that my Honda Jazz plenum cover is made in two pieces, so that one can slide over the other with the natural body flex (for an on roader!!), and you don't need to take the bonnet off to get the plenum cover off, so there are some improvements that could have been made to the original design.
I bought one from Britcar UK some time back. Local wreckers wanted the same amount for a sun baked one roughly 9 years old.
Easy decision.
Also had the same experience with a windscreen joint. Smashed it and said that's how it was, (retards). If I was you I would also order the A pillar moulds (roughly $60 each). No doubt they porked them as well, although this is not very hard as they are a very average design.

Andrew
