    TD5 no go

brother inlaw has my old TD5 D2 and last night it just stopped dead on him. he said it spluttered, then 5 seconds later just stopped dead. starter kicks over fine, good battery, but no fire up.
my first guess was fuel pump. i have done a search and couldn;'t find specifically what i am looking at.
any other ideas or are we on the right track.?

also any ideas on some in Logan City south brisbane thats good on LR and not gunna rip off my bro inlaw?

There should also be a black inertia switch on the firewall under the bonnet - try pressing that too.
    Cheers

Put your hand on the fuel filter and have someone turn the key. You'll feel it buzz if it's working.
I took the bleed fitting out of the fuel filter and opened it up to 0.8mm, now I can hear it when I turn it on 👍

Check how much oil is getting to the ecu. Un-plug the ecu and have a look if there is oil in the plug, and same thing with the harness leading upto the front of the head. The harness/ecu maybe due for replacement as oil kills the ecu. Contact cleaner may help.

A TD5 should still start with a faulty pump.

At least mine does with the relay and fuse removed as I was intrigued and want to see what would happen.

Any warning lights when it stopped.

Mine recently started fine then started running rough with the MIL light on.

Turned out to be the crank sensor wiring.

no warning lights at all, though now when he turns ignition on the M & S lights are flashing
from memory though i think mine does that until it starts, so not sure if that is another problem.

Mike Hall is at Slack's Creek; don't know about their rates etc as I have only used them when I got the Range Rover, which is over 10 years ago. At that time they were good; business has since been sold I understand, so I don't know what experiences people have had in the recent past.
