Anyone looking at getting a front hub in from O/sea's ?

					Hey guys,
I have found a few places where you can buy the front hubs in from the UK alot cheaper than here in Aus, but obviouslt freight is a killer..... $150... But apparently the freight costs is the same for 2, so wondering if anyone is in need of a front hub also and would like to go halves ?
Or alternatively, anyone know of the best place to buy from with reasonable freight costs ?
Thanks heaps !
Shayne

			Front Hubs

					Hello,
I just bought front and rear hubs from Rimmer Bros in the UK.
Ordered monday and arrived Friday!
It is cheaper in the long run to have 2 orders of say 500 pounds + freight instead of ordering over the $1000 dollar mark and paying all the customs duty etc.
Make sure you keep the cost under a $1000 AUS (including freight charge)
If you go over the $1000 dollar mark the Customs man sticks his hand out for 10% GST and all sorts of other little fees.
I found out the hard way recently with a Transfer Case from Ashcroft Transmissions. (Still cheaper than local here in Aus, choice of brand new or rebuilt with no exchange unit) so now i have a spare transfer case.
Also bought the D1 tailshaft and threw away the Rotoflex coupling and fitted the Flange adaptor from Ashcroft. (Comes with spacer)
Now the back shaft is uni - uni no more flexible coupling ever few thousand kays.
Local prices are high by comparison and if you are willing/able to wait a few days why not save the coin!!

Hey Shayne, I recently got a front hub from the UK. It was 169 pounds and while I was at it got a branded filter service kit for 29 punds. Freight was $80 pounds and delivered in a week. The whole purchase cost me $500 AU. My quote locally for the Hub alone was $690 and I have previously brought the filters at $155. So a saving of $345. When I was talking to my usual supplier I asked them why they are charging so much and why they don't buy direct and put a mark up on the product (thats reasonable). I told them that I would happily pay an additional $100 to buy it off them, but there response was 'we've been told by a number of customers that they are now buying overseas and that's their choice'. I told them that the local consumers were aware of the price over the net and most were not afraid to make purchases. I stated that they should review their pricing as like myself would prefer to buy local at a reasonable mark up and not be ripped by a local supplier. They stated that it was due to their supplier and once again questioned that they could organise their own distribution from overseas and be done with it....go figure.

Thanks for the reponse guys !
I got a quote from British parts in the UK for $170 pounds, including freight !!!
So will be going down this path, as I was nearly going to buy a second hand hub from the wreckers for $80aus, but for the $270aud, that will do me nicely indeed !!!
Thanks !
Shayne

Just don't get a britpart one. I haven't had the hub but when I have had no other choice and had to get the britpart it has all been rubbish. And had to replace it again in under 6 months . Spend the the extra on something better. Matt

ohhh, it was from British parts. Was $135 + 35 freight.
Most of the ones I had found over there were about the 130 pound price, but most places wanted another 100 for freight.
Now I'm worried.....
