    Fan in Dash

I have a D2 2000 TD5 auto with extended front and back aircon climate control (blah blah). I have just recently updated from D1 1997 SE which was a good car for 8 years. My question is when I start the D2 a fan comes on in the dash, even if aircon is off completley, does not seem to be doing anything and may be running all the time cant really hear it once engine is running. Does anyone know what this is? does it Matter? This car has every sort of tech known to man especially compared to the D1 even the seats are electric!!! All the bits are working Liking the car, would appreciate some help
    TIA

    mac,

that little fan noise is behind a grille near the ignition key, a small plastic grille on the lower rh dash facia. it is to sample the air temps for the automatic climate control.

There is a how-to on removing, cleaning and regreasing the fan on the forum. If you do a search for threads started by mturri you should find it.

    edit: this is the one:
