    MAF. How do u diagnose

Hey, before wr start I have used search in the good oil, and d2 forums but no luck. I have unplugged my maf (d2 td5), and it appears to have made no difference at all. What should I experience by unplugging it if it was running in the first place. I have seen so m an y conflicting opinions ok n various forums it confuses.

    Cheers
    Nick.

The forum search is useless for three letter search terms. Use google with "site:aulro.com" to limit the search to AULRO.

That said best way to diagnose the MAF is to use a diagnostic tool to check airflow figures. 50-60 kg/hr at idle 500+ kg/hr under load is about right.

    Td5 MAF KG/Hr numbers

As OffTrack has already said the diagnostic is the easiest as far airflow figures.

I havnt had one fail, however reports from others indicate that unplugging a crook MAF gave them back some performance but gave a worse fuel consumption.

I can tell you that when I unplugged my known working MAF I couldnt pick the difference. I didnt drive it for long enough to make any fuel consumption comparison (it was just a a couple of kms) but I did notice just a little smoke when accelearting hard.
If thats anything to go by then yours may be OK, but I wouldnt bet money on it.

    cheers

Exactly my confusion. I think the nanocom is showing no airflow, but not sure I'm looking at the right reading. Unplugged it to test, ....NO Difference. So while I have not been unhappy with the performance, I was thinking no MAF was going to be spluttering and coughing. If it is stuffed then I surely didn't notice at the time.

    cheers
