    Hello,
I did mine a little differently I didn't like the idea of the water and mud sitting around my sills all the time not to mention driving on the beach . still the same a 40mm sq tube box section and tube, great tube bender at work, and two arms that bolt onto the body mounts there were holes there are I did enlarge them a little, they are at a funny angle but making it is two sections tacking while on the car worked out great, then riveted alloy diamond plate on them, looks good. Pity you are not in Perth would have helped you make them.

By the time I was finished they were more side steps, then rock sliders.
The Discovery is still my main car and the one we use on weekends with the tribe, more soft roader then off roader.

This was my first attempt at welding so a good learning curve. I thought about the contact between the sil and the styrups and am going to give the sil a coat of the polymer body deadener before attaching them again.

The styrups are made from 75 x 5 flat bar bent into shape.

Overall the steps came to a grand total of about $150 including fasteners and paint.

I agree Tombie that strengthening is needed to consider them a protective device, but at this stage as side steps they should suffice. Once the car becomes the backup car, I will have another go. They are strong, but I won't be jacking the car off them anytime soon.

    Finished.

After all said and done, they are now on the car

    Very Happy

And now I don't have to yell at the kids for standing on the plastic Skirts.
