Cleaning inlet manifold
Hi all
I am about to do the egr thing, remove the inlet manifold and give a good clean etc, but what is the best way to clean all the gunk out.
How about the inlets in the head? How do they get cleaned?
I know Wynns makes a cleaner that mechanics can get that is supposed to be sprayed down the running inlet so it dissolves the gunk layer by layer to be burned up in the cylinder, anyone done this?
Cheers

Unless you are going to take the head off and clean the manifold and ports at the same time, don't do it!!
Anything loose that is left after cleaning the black tar crud will stick to the back of the valves if you are unable to fully clean it off. Initially, it won't be a problem. 6 months down the track it will cause valves to burn, and then you have to take the head off for repairs anyway.
If it isn't causing problems, leave it. If there is an issue where the head has to come off, do it then.
It was 2 years before I had the head off mine after an egr removal, no issues. Just clean the sensor on the inlet manifold.
Cheers,
Jason
