Power Steering stiff at idle
Hi all,
Got a 2000 Disco 2 with the TD5 engine. Just recently replaced the water pump and replaced the gasket in the power steering pump to stop a leak in the system. Since putting it back together again, the power steering works fine, except right on idle or when not moving. The steering is very heavy until the Landy starts to take off.
I've checked for leaks, bled the system, made sure I've used an appropriate PAS fluid. I did replace the serpentine belt tensioner pulley at the same time, but it seems fine and the nanocom says idle speed is spot on.
Any other thoughts on what it could be? I don't believe it was this heavy before I did the work, but on the other hand once it starts to move it all seems good. Is this okay, or do I need to dig a bit deeper?

Steering load is greater when not moving than when rolling. What pressure are you running in your front tyres - have you checked them lately?

Thanks Mundy, I'll check it out.
